Before You Start

We want you to enjoy your first day on the job, so we've created a list of things you can do to get prepared. By completing these tasks beforehand, you can spend a little more time learning about our organization and meeting new people on your first day at Orange County. Your HR representative will provide you with a welcome packet that includes information on how to complete:

  • Physical Examination.
  • Drug Screening.
  • Background Questionnaire. Level 1 or Level 2

Before arriving at your first day of orientation, be sure you have:

  • Proof of identity.
  • Proof of U.S. work eligibility.

Federal regulations require that you show specific documents to demonstrate your identity and authorization to work in the United States. Documents must be originals; copies or laminated documents cannot be accepted.

Speak with your HR representative and confirm:

  • Start date.
  • Arrival time.
  • Location.
  • Uniform requirements.

Your First Week

Your first day of employment starts on Orientation Day. You will complete several required forms, participate in a series of interactive sessions to better understand our values and culture, and enroll in benefits. Additionally, you can review the New Employee Orientation Handbook for further employment information and benefits. On the second day, you will work in your department learning more specifically about its operations and your new job. Tasks that should be a priority in your first week at Orange County include:

  • Getting your employee identification badge.
