Orange County Government and its Public Works Division held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Young Pine Road Three-Points Maintenance Unit on July 21.

The new location will provide better response times for issues involving pothole repairs and maintenance, tree trimming, grass mowing and sidewalk repairs for the citizens of Districts 3 and District 4 in Orange County.

“Our No. 1 priority is timely, effective and professional service for the citizens of Orange County,” said Public Works Director Mark Massaro. “In addition to faster service, this maintenance unit will help restore services in our neighborhoods faster after a severe storm or a hurricane.”

Orange County District 3 Commissioner Pete Clarke and District 4 Commissioner Jennifer Thompson attended the ceremony.

The state-of-the-art facility will also be instrumental in improving response times during an emergency activation for sandbag distribution and the clearing of roadways. The property, at 4651 Young Pine Road, was purchased in 2009.

Continuing Orange County Government’s commitment to maintaining the region as the best place to live, work and raise a family, Mayor Teresa Jacobs outlined a proposal in June for one of the largest capital investment projects by Orange County, a $300 million initiative called "INVEST in Our Home for Life."

The funds will be spent on roads, parks, pedestrian safety projects, public and fire safety facilities and affordable family housing in Orange County. INVEST in Our Home for Life will be funded through leveraging existing revenue streams thanks to conservative budgeting and an improving economy, not through increased taxes.
