Enabling Legislation:
The "Fairness in Procurement" ordinance was adopted October 15, 1984. Amendments included Resolution No. 85-M-07, adopted February 25, 1985; and Resolution No. 91-M-30, adopted June 25, 1991. Ordinance No. 94-02, adopted January 11, 1994, repealed the Fairness in Procurement Ordinance and created the Minority/Women Advisory Committee. Ordinance No. 94-17, adopted August 9, 1994, renamed the committee as the Minority/Women Enterprise Advisory Committee and increased the membership by seven non-voting members.
Membership:
Seven voting members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.
Seven non-voting members designated by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Asian Chamber of Commerce, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the National Association of Women in Construction, the Associated Builders and Contractors, and the Associated General Contractors. Non-voting members are appointed by the County Mayor and confirmed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Powers and Duties:
To serve in an advisory capacity to the County's Compliance Officer and other county staff in implementing the goals of the County's Minority/Women Business Enterprise Ordinance and to aid in the establishment of procedures to effectively carry out the ordinance.
