Enabling Legislation:
Ordinance No. 91-08, effective April 17, 1991, and Resolution No. 91-M-24, effective June 18, 1991. On September 26, 1995, the Board adopted Ordinance No. 95-32, which repealed Ordinance no. 91-08 effective October 5, 1996 and on January 30, 1996, adopted Resolution No. 96-M-10, which repealed Resolution No. 91-M-24 effective January 30, 1996.
Membership:
Nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners which may include representatives of the following member types: K-9 handler (may be a member of law enforcement), veterinarian, Orlando Humane Society, obedience trainer or handler, American Kennel Club, at large, and alternate.

- 3 At Large Representative
- 1 K-9 Handler (may be a member of law enforcement)
- 1 Obedience Trainer or Handler
- 1 Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Central Florida Representative
- 1 Veterinarian
Term Length: 2 Years
Term Of Office:
Initial appointments were made for the remainder of calendar year 1991. Staggering of term begins January 1, 1992, by appointing 2 members for a term of 1 year, 2 members for a term of 2 years, and 3 members for a term of 3 years. All subsequent appointments shall be for a term of 2 years.
Powers and Duties:
Reviews investigations of incidents involving animals to determine whether an animal should be classified as "dangerous" or "potentially dangerous."
