  • The First Regular Cycle 2010 comprehensive plan amendment public hearing schedule was revised on November 9, 2009.  Please refer to the revised schedule for the public hearing dates.
  • Senate Bill 360, the Community Renewal Act, was passed in the 2009 legislative session and signed into law by Governor Crist. Shortly after the bill became law, a lawsuit was filed challenging its constitutionality. In a memo (PDF - 135 KB) dated July 13, 2009, Mayor Crotty directed staff to hold off on implementing the provisions of this Act, pending the outcome of the legal challenge.

One of the Act's provisions was a two-year extension on "any local government-issued development order or building permit" with an expiration date between September 1, 2008 and January 1, 2012. In order to qualify for this permit extension, the permit holder must notify the County in writing no later than December 31, 2009. The County is accepting written notifications until that date, and those notifications will be held until such time as there is a final court ruling or until the Legislature has clarified the Act.

Here is the Senate Bill 360 2-Year Permit Extension Notification form (MS Word - 36 KB), which must be completed and filed (along with any necessary documentation) with the County no later than December 31, 2009. The form should be filed with the Department or Division that issued the original permit.
  • The Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) reviews comprehensive plans and amendments for consistency with chapter 163, Part II, Florida Statutes (F.S.), the Growth Management Act, and issues reports on its findings.  Notice of Intent 09-1ER, 09-RWSP109-R1, 08-208-CIE1, and 08-1 were issued to Orange County by the DCA.
