Classification Report
A Classification Study is performed to determine what types of vehicles are using a roadway. This study is broke down using FHWA vehicle classifications. Those classifications consist of Motorcycles, passenger cars, 4-tire single unit, buses and two axle vehicles on up to seven or more axles.
Delay Report
A Delay Study is performed during the "Peak Hour" at an un-signalized location. This study is used to determine the amount of time a vehicle is stopped, before making a turn. This report is equipped with a total vehicle count, average and maximum stopped time, average queue time (in seconds) and maximum number of vehicles in the queue.
Speed Report
A Speed Study is performed during a three day period on both bounds of the roadway. This study is used to determine the speed of vehicles on the roadway. This report is equipped with the posted speed, the 85% speed, the 50% speed, a breakdown of all vehicles on a given roadway (in numerical and graph form) and the AM & PM peak times. Traffic Engineers use this study to determine speed limits or warrant the use of Traffic Calming
TMC Report
A Turning Movement Count (TMC) Study is performed during the "Peak Hour". This study is used to determine the flow of traffic through an intersection. The report is equipped with a "Peak Hour" volume and a breakdown the vehicles turning movement by numbers and graph. Traffic Engineers commonly use this study to modify signal timing or warrant a signal at an un-signalized intersection.
Volume Report
A Volume Study is performed during a 24-hour period and counts the number of vehicles using a roadway at a given location. The report is equipped with the total number of vehicles, broke down into each bound of traffic and the AM & PM "Peak Hours." Traffic Engineers commonly use this study to determine a Peak Hour or for an annual report of roadway usage.
