Monday, November 16
Orange County, FL –Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty will join local Mayors, Alex Martins, Chief Operations Officer of the Orlando Magic and Howard Lance, President and Chief Executive Officer with the Harris Corporation to take part in a historic event to support our troops. On Monday, November 16, at the Orlando Magic game, the group will sign the “Orange County Armed Forces Community Covenant” to honor our service men and women here at home and abroad.
The Mayors, the Orlando Magic and Harris Corporation will sign the “Covenant” during a pre-game private reception and will be recognized at half-time during the Orlando Magic vs. Charlotte Bobcats game at the Amway Arena, as part of the Orlando Magic’s’ “Seats for Soldiers” event.
The Community Covenant program is designed to foster effective community partnerships with representatives of the United States Armed Forces to improve the quality of life for service personnel and their families, both at their current duty stations and as they transfer to other states. It is a formal commitment of support by local communities to servicemen and women and their families of all military branches and services, active duty, National Guard and reserve. Many states and local communities across the country have already made this commitment and many others are planning ceremonies in the near future.
