How to Participate & Earn Rewards

The 2026-27 Hiking Spree starts on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 26, 2026, and runs through Earth Day, April 22, 2027.

Visit Orange County’s Green PLACE properties and hike any of the 40 trails. Record your hikes to earn Green PLACE achievements and rewards. The more trails you hike, the more rewards you earn!

After completing your hikes, submit your completion form by May 1, 2027, to receive your rewards and celebrate your achievements.

Guided Hikes

Join one or more guided hikes during the first Green PLACE Hiking Spree and get closer to earning rewards for exploring Green PLACE properties!

The Green PLACE Hiking Spree is a fun way to explore Orange County’s natural lands and discover the many landscapes, plants and wildlife that make these places special.

Property User Rules

• Open from sunrise to sunset.
• Motor vehicles are prohibited.
• Pets must be leashed at all times.
• Security is not provided; use facilities at your own risk.
• Access the preserve only through designated entry points.
• Dispose of all trash in trash receptacles.
• Smoking is not permitted on Green PLACE properties.
• Portions of this property may be temporarily closed for active land management.
• All vegetation, animals, facilities and cultural resources on this preserve are protected. It is unlawful to remove, destroy, deface, mutilate or harass any of these resources.
• Helmets are recommended for all equestrian riders and required for riders younger than 16.
• Horses have the right of way and are permitted only on designated trails. Proof of a negative Coggins test must be provided upon request.
