Reporting An Objectionable Odor

Reporting an Objectionable Odor

The Orange County Environmental Protection Division (EPD) responds to complaints concerning objectionable odors in Orange County, except for those coming from the main Orange County Landfill.

If you want to report an outdoor objectionable odor, please use this online reporting form.

If you think the source of the odor is the Orange County Landfill located in east Orange County on Young Pine Road, please use this form instead: https://www.ocfl.net/WaterGarbageRecycling/LandfillOdor.aspx

Information reported online including the nature and intensity of odors, time of day, weather conditions, etc. is added to EPD's database along with county inspection and other third-party data. As a result, EPD is better able to identify the specific causes of objectionable odors and work with facilities to implement effective solutions.

Be aware that if you make a complaint that includes your name and address, that information will become a public record and available for review upon request.

On July 1, 2021, Section 125.69, Florida Statutes, was amended to restrict Florida code inspectors from initiating investigations related to anonymous complaints. The amended statute is available for review at this link: http://laws.flrules.org/2021/167. Pursuant to this legislation, unless you provide your name and home address, only complaints that pose imminent threat to public health, safety, or welfare or imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources will be investigated by Orange County inspectors. Anonymous complaints that do not pose an imminent hazard as described will not be investigated.
