Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved in the beautiful lakes and rivers around you! Take a look below and see what programs we have available for our citizens:

Orange County is updating the Chapter 8 Boats and Water Safety Ordinance to revise the Uniform Waterway Marker permit with updated signage on multiple waterbodies. Submit a comment on the proposed revisions.

Want to sample your lake and learn about its chemistry? Sign-up to be a volunteer for Lakewatch.

Our Environmental Protection Division has a volunteer and intern program available, Check it out!

Invest in your lake! Self-imposed property fees are an option to fund many lake management activities which may include: nuisance aquatic plant management or implementing pollutant-reduction projects. Contact EPD@ocfl.net to find out how you can partner with your neighbors to invest in the health and maintenance of your lake.

Report pollution and other environmental issues.

Want to know more about certain events that may affect your lake? Subscribe to the Environmental Advisories (OC Alerts).

Education
Opportunities

The Jr. Naturalist Program provides opportunities for youth, ages 8-14, to learn about nature through outdoor exploration, environmental activities and wildlife interaction. Classes are held on a Saturday once a month from September through May, excluding December, with most classes being held on Orange County conservation properties. All classes are free and open to the public. Registration is required. Space is limited and varies per class.
