Lifeguard Job Fairs at Fort Gatlin Recreation Complex in February 2024
  • Orange County Parks and Recreation Division hosts the annual Lifeguard Job Fairs (interviews only) on Wednesday, February 21, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., at Fort Gatlin Recreation Complex. Apply online prior to the event at www.ocfl.net/cultureparks/jobsdashboard.aspx, click "Apply" then “External Applicants”; complete your information for Lifeguard - Fort Gatlin 33484 (closes 3/15/24) then contact Fort Gatlin at 407-254-9820. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and bring their I.D. Salary starts at $16.07/hour. Free lifeguard certification class provided to selected candidates.

    Spring Break Camp: Kindergarten to 5th Grade

    • Registration: now through March 2 (limited availability; first come, first served until full).
    • Camp dates: March 15 and 18-22, 2024.
    • Weekly Fee: $96; additional child: $91; reduced lunch fee: $72; free lunch: $60; State assistance (SNAP, WIC & TANF): $30; additional out-of-county fee for non-Orange County residents: $20.
    • Daily meals provided by Second Harvest Food Bank.

    Summer Camp: Completed Kindergarten through 5th Grade

    • Registration: April 2 (limited availability; first come, first served until full).
    • Camp dates: May 28 through August 2, 2024 (no camp on July 4th, Independence Day).
    • Weekly Fee: $80; additional child: $75; reduced lunch fee: $60; free lunch: $50; State assistance (SNAP, WIC & TANF): $25; additional out-of-county fee for non-Orange County residents: $20.
    • A new and completed registration packet and payment is required to confirm registration.
    • Field trips will not be provided.
    • Daily meals provided by Second Harvest Food Bank.

    • Swim test will be held at a later date, time and location. Test includes:
      1. Swim 150 yards continuously using front crawl, breaststroke, or combination of both. Transition into a 2-minute tread only using the legs, and finish with a 50 yard swim. All three steps must be done without rest periods in between. Must demonstrate breath control and rhythmic breathing during the swim.

      2. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface, and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface in order to breathe. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Timed event: complete within 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Pool Hours:
  • Effective until further notice: Mondays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. only
  • Tuesdays through Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This is an activity-based recreation facility with a tennis center, family swimming pool, and afterschool and summer programs. Swimming is $2 per person per day or $60 per person for an annual pass.
