Orange County Government is actively working to reduce the number of new HIV infections and is committed to serving those in our community with HIV. Orange County is committed to reduce new HIV infections and ensure that our community of people with HIV have access to high quality care supported through federal funding for the Central Florida Community.
As the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part A (RWHAP Part A) Recipient, Orange County Government plays a vital role in responding to the HIV epidemic by providing a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, and essential support services for low-income people with HIV who are uninsured and underserved in Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake counties (Orlando EMA). Over the past five years, Orange County Government has also administered the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program.
The mission of the Orlando EMA is to ensure that eligible clients with HIV have access to high-quality, life-extending care through comprehensive primary HIV medical care and support services.
This commitment is carried out through Orange County’s Health Services Department's partnership with agencies in the community and guidance from the Central Florida HIV Planning Council
The Orlando EMA currently serves over 5,000 people in the community and has goals to expand the reach of services to improve health outcomes amongst members of the Central Florida Community.
