Approved updates to certain environmental permitting fees are being phased in over two years and take effect October 1, 2026. See the approved fee schedule below.
The fee update is part of a multi-phase review of EPD permit and plan review fees. Phase I addressed wetland impact permit application fees as part of the County's 2024 Wetland Code update. Phase II focuses on non-wetland permit types, including Lakeshore Protection, Boat Dock Construction, Boat Ramp Construction and Shoreline Alteration/Dredge and Fill permit.
The fees are intended to align with the real cost of service, including staff time for application review, site inspections, coordination, public hearings and compliance monitoring. Please contact wetlandpermitting@ocfl.net with any questions.
In situations where a lakeshore and/or an adjacent conservation area (wetland), has become dominated by nuisance, invasive, or exotic vegetation, a Lakeshore Protection Permit may be issued to allow the removal of these non-beneficial species. Replanting the shoreline and/or adjacent wetland with appropriate native vegetation is required following removal of the non-beneficial species.
Please note: The Florida Legislature passed an update to Section 125.022, Florida Statutes (FS), effective Oct. 1, 2025. For any applications received on or after Oct. 1, 2025, an applicant has 30 days from the date of a Request for Additional Information (RAI) letter to respond to EPD. However, Section 125.022, FS, allows the applicant to submit a written request to EPD to waive the timeframes. If a response to an RAI is not received within 30 days, or a waiver is not approved within that period, EPD will close the application. The applicant will then be required to reapply, including any application fees. An Application for Waiver can be requested from EPD by emailing WetlandPermitting@ocfl.net and can also be found under Get Forms.
