The Orange County Board of County Commissioners has approved the proposed Phase 1 of the Chuluota Road widening project. This road widening will span approximately 0.6 miles from the north side of the Chuluota Road and East Colonial Drive (SR 50) intersection to approximately 750 feet north of the proposed Chuluota Road and School View Way/Cypress Lake Glen Boulevard intersection. Additionally, safety improvements will be analyzed and designed for the Long Boat Lane/Cypress Lake Glen Boulevard intersection.
The purpose of the project is to improve the capacity of Chuluota Road near the shopping center to the south and Corner Lake Middle School to the west, reducing congestion and improving safety. The proposed intersection will allow for greater connectivity between the Cypress Lake community on the east side of Chuluota Road and Corner Lake Middle School and improve safety for all residents and road users in the area.
The project is expected to begin design in mid-2027.
