Welcome to Orange County, Florida. I am proud to be serving my second term as your mayor and look forward to our work together as we continue to build a strong and prosperous community for our guests and citizens to enjoy. As home to more than 1.2 million residents and as the world’s top travel and leisure destination – with more than 68 million visitors annually – our region is truly the best place in the world to live, work and raise a family.
In addition to our world class international airport, second largest convention center in the U.S., and blockbuster theme parks and entertainment options, Orange County is home to some of the finest venues in America, including the spectacular new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and our newly-rebuilt Camping World Stadium – formerly named the Citrus Bowl. In 2016, the Stadium hosted three Copa América Centenario matches and in 2017 held the National Football League Pro Bowl in January and Wrestlemania 33 in April.
Additionally, we’re home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic and we host teams and visitors from across the world at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. We’re also very proud to be the Soccer Capital of the South with a new Major League Soccer Stadium for our MLS franchises, the Orlando City Soccer Club and Orlando Pride.
Our economic strength has generated not only national attention – including an ever-increasing number of AAA credit rating levels – it has generated enormous economic opportunities. Forbes has ranked Orange County's City of Orlando the No. 1 region for job growth and one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Highlighting the Dr. Phillips Center, SunRail - the nation's newest commuter rail system and the developing food scene, The New York Times named Orlando No. 13 of 52 Places to go in 2015. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report recognized the region as one of the Best Places to Travel in 2015 and one of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in the United States in 2016. Forbes also ranked Orlando as one of the nation's Best Cities to Buy Housing, third for the Best Big Cities for Jobs and one of the top 10 Cities that Americans Are Moving to Right Now.
Our Regional Branding Campaign, “Orlando. You don’t know the half of it.” can tell you more about our community and how we stay on the cutting edge.
