Special Events

  • Don't miss this free Movie in the Park: Disney's Aladdin! Plan to come to Silver Star Community Park on Friday, February 21, at 6:30-7:58 p.m. Bring chairs, blankets and a picnic or purchase from food trucks.
  • Create lasting memories at Silver Star Recreation Center's Let’s Glow Crazy! Daddy - Daughter Dance for daughters in Kindergarten through 6th grade, on Saturday, February 22, 6-9 p.m. Cost in advance is $25 per couple and $10 per additional daughter (includes photo, space is limited), or $35 per couple and $10 per additional daughter on the day of the event, if event is not full. Youth Sports and Programs

  • Go Ju Karate is for all ages! Learn self defense and develop self confidence. Taught by certified black-belt instructors, classes are for anyone, whether a beginner or advanced. Program offered on Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Cost: $40 per month for eight classes.
  • Home School P.E. for grades K – 5th and 6th - 8th, designed to help home-schooled children stay active and learn the basics of sports and fitness, is offered on Tuesdays through May 12: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. for K - 5th and 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for 6th - 8th. Registration is required; open until full. Cost: $2 per student per class.
  • Kids in the Kitchen for ages 5 - 12 lets kids learn to cook and have fun doing it! The program is held Thursdays through April 30 (no class March 19), 5 - 7 p.m.; cost: $4 per class. Pre-registration required and space is limited.
  • Little Scooters for 2- to 4-year-old children is a enrichment program geared toward preparing youngsters for preschool, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 - 11:30 a.m. Participants learn numbers, letters, shapes, colors and motor skills, and take part in activities that include free play, arts and crafts, story time and holiday parties. Birth certificate required upon registration (child must be potty trained prior to enrollment); cost: $30 per child per session (five sessions with 10 classes per session).
    • Session 4 –January 21 – February 20, 2020: registration open December 14 until full.
    • Session 5 – February 25 – April 2 (no class March 17 and March 19 for Spring Break): registration January 18 until full.
  • Parents Night Out (grades K - 5th) allows you to drop off your child for a fun evening of pizza, snacks, games and crafts. Pre-registration is required on the Wednesday before each event and space is limited to 30 children; cost: $10 per child. The program is held on the following Fridays 6 - 10 p.m.:
    • March 27: St. Patrick's Day
    • April 17: Comedy Night May 15: End-of-the-Year Glow Party
  • Silver Star Steppers registration for grades K – 5th is open until full. The program brings children together to create various step routines; Steppers will practice and put on a show right before the end of the program for their parents and staff. The program meets on Tuesdays through April 21 (no class March 17), 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Cost: $2 per class (includes a T-shirt).
  • Spring Break Camp Scooter registration for grades K - 5th is open through March 8 or until full (first come, first served) for March 13, 16,17, 18, 19 & 20; actual fee $96 (discounts apply).
  • Toddlers in Motion, for ages 3 and 4, teaches children basic sports skills, team play and sportsmanship, with classes held on Mondays 6 - 7 p.m. Pre-registration and birth certificate required; cost: $14 per child per session (three sessions with seven classes per session).
    • Session 3 - Tee Ball, January 13 - March 9 (no class January 20 for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and February 17): registration open December 13 until full.
  • Youth Flag Football spring registration is open now through February 24 at Barnett Park, Orlo Vista Park and Silver Star Recreation Center for ages 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12. League plays at Barnett Park on Saturdays, March 7 – May 9. Cost is $55 per child ($20 out-of-county fee applies).
  • Youth Fitness Membership is available for free for ages 8 – 17 or currently enrolled as a high school senior: gymnasium and game room – assigned times. Parents must fill out a registration form and a school ID is required when you register.
Adult Sports and Programs
  • Adult Fitness Center Memberships are $100 per year for ages 16 - 54 or $25 for 90 days; $75 per year for ages 55+ and active military. Membership includes access to fitness area and assigned times for gymnasium and game room. (Individual fitness classes are paid separately and do not require membership.)

  • Orange County Clash Quad Wheelchair Rugby is an athletic sport using specialized wheelchairs. Games are played on Sundays 3 - 6 p.m. New members welcome! Cost: no fee but registration is required.
  • Orlando Magic Wheels Wheelchair Basketball is a fast-paced team sport for athletes with primarily lower limb disabilities, ranging from amputations to paraplegia. Games are held on Tuesdays 6 - 8 p.m. New members welcome! Cost: $120 per player per year.
  • Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Come play with us and find out why pickleball is so popular! Join in the fun on Mondays and Wednesdays 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Cost: included with fitness center membership or $10 per day.
