Permit and Inspection Utilization Report

In compliance with Florida Statute FS553.80, Orange County Division of Building Safety has prepared the Building Permit and Inspection Utilization Report. The following information is based on the latest audited financial statements and reports generated internally from the permitting software system used by the Division of Building Safety for the County’s Fiscal Year 2019 (October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019). All information is believed to be correct at the time of publication.

(1) Direct and Indirect Costs

(d) Number of building inspections and reinspections conducted: 332,756
(e) Private provide data reporting is somewhat limited for Fiscal Year 2019, therefore, Fiscal Year 2020 data is used to report private provider activity as indicated in the statutory language. Reporting for building inspections conducted by private providers is not available as the inspections are conducted by a private entity for these projects. The private provider, however, has the duty to notify the building official of an upcoming inspection. For Fiscal Year 2020 - Private Provider inspection notifications: 2,208
(f) Private provide data reporting is somewhat limited for Fiscal Year 2019, therefore, Fiscal Year 2020 data is used to report audit activity of private providers as indicated in the statutory language. For Fiscal Year 2020 – Private Provider audits conducted: -0-
(g) The number of personnel dedicated by the local government to enforce the Florida Building Code, issue building permits, and conduct inspections (based on the payroll of September 30, 2019): 139
