Boil Water Information
Beneath Orange County lies a freshwater reservoir known as the Floridan Aquifer. It is primarily fed through rainwater filtered through hundreds of feet of sand and rock in a natural filtering process. Because of its high quality, the groundwater we use needs little or no treatment other than disinfection and aeration.
While fluoride is naturally present in our drinking water supply, a recent court ruling and findings regarding fluoride have caused many to reexamine it as an additive. We follow the guidelines from regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' recommendation of 0.7 milligrams per liter (well below the level in the study referenced by the court ruling) as the optimal fluoride level for water systems. We have not received any new direction from the Environmental Protection Agency or state regulatory agencies.
Our regional water facilities are tested at different periods in accordance with the EPA-mandated testing cycle. We are dedicated to transparency, and our test results will be published on the PFAS page as they become available.
